Meridian
One map of the world’s conflicts, built from hundreds of free sources, with an AI analyst.

Meridian puts aircraft, ships, strikes, fires, outages, and official statements on one globe, with a situation page for each of 29 theatres. Every signal has a baseline, so what changed shows up on its own. An analyst agent answers questions by moving the map and citing its sources.
- Role
- Product, design, and engineering
- When
- 2026
- Stack
- TypeScript, Next.js, MapLibre, deck.gl, TimescaleDB, Azure AI Foundry
The problem
The data is free but scattered across hundreds of sources, each with its own format, licence, and gaps. Open data shows a government preparing far better than it shows when it will act.
The approach
Connectors run under one supervisor and write to TimescaleDB, and a gateway serves the web app through a Cloudflare tunnel. The globe is MapLibre with deck.gl, and live aircraft are dead-reckoned on the GPU. Meridian says “low warning” when that is the truth.
Results
- 186 data connectors under one supervisor
- A situation page for each of 29 theatres
- An analyst that answers on the map, with sources
